Ladybug to debut on Nickelodeon

by AJ Adejare

Update: Now with a Youtube video

Via Instagram, ZAG Entertainment’s Jeremy Zag announced that Ladybug a co-production between French animation Zagtoon and  Japanese animation studio Toei Entertainment, will debut this fall on Nickelodeon.

Zag describes the series as the following:

Modern-day Paris, Marinette and Adrien are two high school kids with a difference: they are the chosen ones to save Paris from evil! They have been entrusted with an important mission – to capture akumas, creatures responsible for turning normal people into super-baddies.
When involved in such adventures, these two school kids become superheroes: Marinette transforms into Ladybug and Adrien becomes Cat Noir.
But Ladybug and Cat Noir do not know each other’s true identity. Marinette is unaware that, beneath the Cat Noir costume nestles Adrien, her secret crush. Similarly, Adrien doesn’t know that Ladybug is, in actual fact, just Marinette – one of the girls in his class.

What’s interesting is that Christina Vee, dropped the information via her Twitter:

If you don’t want to read too much into it, it’s simply a fan reporting it.  However, if you want to read int it:  Vee is a voice actor, knowing the fact that Nickelodeon tends do to animation work on the West Coast and Vee does work there, we may see her soon in it.  With that said, it’s pure conjecture so just see it as the former.

Update: An unlisted video from Youtube user Thomas Astruc director and creator ofMiraculous Ladybug had a voice clip of the following Ladybug scene.  Care to guess who’s voice acting in said clip?  I’ll drop the demo after the video:

If you want to check out what it will look like, see the trailer below:

  1. I’m so sad they changed the original animation style. The hand drawn style worked better for the show. I feel it flowed better. Also I think both of their characters regular forms looked superior. Still the animation on their fights looks good and in the end I’ll probably still watch the show. Thanks for sharing the news!

    1. Also, I somewhat agree, if you click on the Fangroup Tumblr post, we may get the 2D if the 3D does well. I think there’s room for both if handled appropriately.

      1. Having both would be really cool. I pretty much plan on watching the 3D version anyway so knowing it could support a 2D release as well is great news. I think both have their merits. The fights looked good in 3D but overall I liked the style of the 2D more. Either way I think it will be a fun show.
