Hey Smurf fans, are you ready to Get Smurfy? Well if you’re not the casts surly are. Sony Pictures casted Demi Lovato Rainn Wilson, and Mandy Patinkin for the Surfs reboot Get Smurfy. Patinkin, Saul Berenson on Homeland will be Papa Smurf while Lovato, singer of Heartattack and Sunny in Disney’s Sunny with a Chance will be Smurfette. Wilson, known for being Dwight of NBC’s The Office will be Gargamel. The plot of the movie has Smuffette and the crew looking for the lost village of the Smurfs and plans to answer questions such as why there seems to be only one girl Smurf in a village of predominantly men.
Kelly Asbury and Mary Ellen Bauder will work together on this new film and Jordan Kerner, a producer of the film said the following: “We felt it was important to take a very different approach with this origin story. It returns to the roots of Peyo’s creation in this CG-animated adventure…I hope it will delight not only fans but audiences worldwide. We couldn’t be more excited with the talented new cast we’re starting to assemble for our ‘Smurfy’ reboot.”
The movie plans to come out in March 31, 2017.
