Fox Options Movie Rights for Lumberjanes

by AJ Adejare

Lumberjanes is one step closer to becoming a movie.  20th Century Fox optioned the movie rights for Lumberjanes.   Will Widger of The Munchkin, will work on adapting the comic as the writer with Boom! Studio’s Stephen Christy Ross Richie   and Adam Yoelin helming the production side of the series.  Fox’s production team for the movie, Kira Goldberg and Ryan Jones, are excited for the property including upped the priority for the movie.

Lumberjanes created by Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson, and Shannon Watters became a sensation in the comic book industry, becoming so popular that it turned from an 8 part mini-series to an ongoing comic story.  The book also is up for an Eisner Award at this year’s Comic-Con International which will take place in July.

No word on whether it will be animated or live action, but safe to say, it’s looking more like a live action movie.
