Like a summons to jury duty, Gamergate shows up again. Bleeding Cool spotted a stand with Gamergate apparel at the Calgary Expo. There banners with “Ethics in Gaming Journalism” as well as Vivian James, an anthropomorphic avatar made by Gamergate to stand for for “Vidya Games” (spelled Video Games).
Let’s be clear, it sucks that hate group material is at a convention. It sucks that Calgary Expo had to be place (don’t put the blame on them though). It sucks that women who want representation in video games still have to be silenced by haters.
Update: As per Calgary Expo’s Twitter, they excused the person from the convention.
